winscp - better than putty

If you're frustrated by ssh/putty, use WinSCP instead. I don't think I'll ever go back.

  1. Wait, I presume winscp is a replacement for the Unix scp tool, in the same way that putty is a replacement for the Unix ssh tool?

They shouldn't be competitors, right? They're trying to achieve 2 different objectives? (File transfer vs. remote session)

  2. There are two distinct activities here, file management versus executing remote programs. But until recently I've been trying to accomplish them both through a terminal shell. Also, 95% of what I do on remote linux machines is file management. So yeah I've been using the wrong tool.
